It’s celebrations all the way at NPTC Group of Colleges following a surge in the number of students achieving A* in their A Level qualifications along with the highest possible grade profile in vocational subjects.
The number of students achieving the top grade has more than doubled this year, building on the success of previous years.
For the 12th year in succession the overall pass rate (99.9 per cent) exceeded 99 per cent. In 39 subjects out of the 40 offered at A Level, students achieved a remarkable 100 per cent pass rate. Forty one per cent of the students sitting A Level exams achieved A* to B grades and 74 per cent of students achieved A* to C grades.
In addition 93 students achieved an excellent outcome of triple distinction grades in the Extended National Diploma qualifications, with 34 students achieving the highest possible grade profile of D*D*D*.
More than 200 students achieved the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification Skills Challenge Certificate with 60 per cent achieving A* to B grades.
Mark Dacey Chief Executive Officer and Principal of NPTC Group of Colleges said: “We are absolutely delighted with the results and to announce that our A* grade profile has more than doubled this year.”
“The pass rate at the College has once again exceeded the national benchmark and staff are proud of the students who followed the Gifted and Talented programme (GATE) at Neath Port Talbot Sixth Form Academy where 96 per cent of students gained A* to B grades and 84 per cent of those achieved A* to A grades.”

Amy Davies: A*, Biology; A*, Maths; A*, Chemistry. Amy is off to Durham to study Biology.
Rebecca Penny: A*, Biology; A*, Computer Science; A*, Maths. Rebecca is off to Cardiff University to study Pharmacy.

Toby Butt: B, Economics; A, French; B, History. Toby is going to Cardiff to study Business and Economics. He is also an elite sportsman who rows for Wales.

Sam Davies: D*D*D*, Civil Engineering. He has gone straight into employment with Swansea Construction Company Interserve as an estimator. ‘I really enjoyed my time in College – I’m actually gutted to be leaving. The Civil Engineering course is great if you want to go straight into employment.’
Callum Williams: D*D*D*, Graphic Design. Callum will be attending Falmouth University to study Graphic Design.
Shaun Morgan: D*D*D*, Graphic Design. Shaun is off to Brighton University to study Interior Architectural Design.
Elaine Giddings: D*D*D*, Sport. Elaine is now Head of Men’s Artistic Gymnastic at Neath Afan, in charge of the whole men’s programme.
Timothy Bacagan: D*D*D, Computer Games Design and Programming. He is off to Staffordshire University to study Computer Games Design.
Samuel Asquith: D*D*D*, IT. Samuel will be attending De Montford University to study Intelligence Systems.
Morgan Ireland: D*D*D*, Sport. She is off to Cardiff Metropolitan University to study Sports Coaching, Rehabilitation and Massage. Morgan received a Sports Scholarship of £1,500 and was named the College’s Sports Woman of the Year, She takes an active part in the Netball Academy.
Danielle O’Shea: Two As and two Bs at A Level and is off to Cardiff to study Law.
Caitlin Burns: D*D*D, Forensic Science. Caitlin is off to USW to study Forensic Biology.
Fraser Morgan: D*D*D*, Business. Frasier is off to Swansea University to study Business.
Rebekah Powney: D*D*D*, Sport. Rebecca is going to Cardiff Metropolitan University to study Sports Coaching, Rehabilitation and Massage.
Dee Jones: D*D*D* in Travel and Tourism and is off to Swansea University to study Travel and Tourism.
Bethan Johnson: D*D*D* in Travel and Tourism and is off to Swansea University to study Travel and Tourism.
Georgia Evans: A*, Sociology (fast track); B, Drama; C, Music; B, Religious Studies. Gemma is going to USW to study Media, Journalism and Culture.
Gemma Vaughan: D*D*D*, Forensic Science. Gemma has got into the competitive Zoology degree course at Swansea University. ‘I always wanted to go into Zoology but struggled with A Levels. Swapping to the BTEC has meant I can still go into my dream profession.’
