NPTC Group of Colleges was at the heart of the recent Powys Business Awards as catering and hospitality students served up a feast that delighted guests.
More than 230 people attended the prestigious event at the College’s Theatre Hafren to see 12 awards presented to a range of small, medium and large businesses out of a total of 30 finalists.
The awards, organised by Mid Wales Manufacturing Group and sponsored by Powys County Council, celebrate the best of and excellence of businesses throughout the county.
The MCs for the evening were BBC Wales Today and X-Ray presenter, Lucy Owen, and her television presenter husband Rhodri Owen.
NPTC Group of Colleges were once again proud to be an award sponsor. This year, Assistant Principal for Skills, Nicola Thornton-Scott presented the Small Business Award to winner EvaBuild Ltd.
The company was established in 2011 by managing director Nick Evans and employs 18 full-time people and many sub-contractors throughout the UK, and has a turnover of £3.3million.
Before presenting the award, Nicola thanked all involved in the evening and in particular the students, some of whom had only been at College as catering students for just two weeks.
The meal included a starter of Goat’s Cheese Panna Cotta followed by Supreme of Chicken with Red Wine Mushroom and Tarragon Sauce and a dessert of Eton Mess.
Ceri Stephens of Mid Wales Manufacturing Group said: “The students were a credit to NPTC Group of Colleges and the feedback on the food and service has been excellent.”
