NPTC Group of Colleges’ Sport student Katie Eley scooped an impressive double gold medal haul at last weekend’s British Taekwondo Championships in Sheffield.
Katie, who is studying BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (Performance & Excellence), won gold in both the Junior 59kg and Senior 57kg categories in the same day at the English Institute of Sport, pausing only for a quick lunch and rest between the preliminary rounds and her two finals!
Katie is on course to achieve a Triple Distinction (D*D*D*) in her BTEC qualification, having already achieved a Double Distinction (D*D*) in her first year at LLandarcy Academy of Sport. She has previously represented the GB Paralympic Taekwondo Team in the 2017 World Championships in London.
A talented all-around sportsperson, Katie also competes at a high level in Netball and currently represents the College’s Netball Academy First Team as a Goal Attack.
