Since the new Junior Apprentices arrived in September they have been making quite an impact across NPTC Group of Colleges, especially when they hosted at cake sale in aid of Shelter Cymru at Afan College recently.
Junior Apprenticeships are a unique new way to learn and start training for a future career for 14-16-year-olds. During Years 10 and 11 young people on a Junior Apprenticeship programme come to college, instead of school. These unique programmes, jointly funded by Neath Port Talbot Council, Neath Port Talbot Schools and NPTC Group of Colleges offer a brand new route for young people to train for their future careers.
Planned and delivered by the Junior Apprentice Public Services course, the cakes were all produced by the Colleges’ Catering and Hospitality students with all proceeds going to Shelter Cymru.
Dave Rush, Campus Manager for Afan College said: “The junior apprentices have all worked really hard to plan and run this event for their chosen charity, as well as helping the staff and students at Afan College into the festive spirit.”
