Lee Stafford, award-winning celebrity hairdresser, wowed local stylists with his enthusiasm and talent at an exclusive show to celebrate the launch of his new Lee Stafford Academy of Hairdressing, Barbering and Applied Therapies.
The Lee Stafford Academy launches this September at Afan College, Brecon Beacons College and Newtown College, part of NPTC Group of Colleges in an exciting new partnership with the College, and will be the only one of its kind in Wales, offering budding hairdressers and salons unique training and exceptional masterclasses that they can’t get anywhere else.
The aim of the Academy is to ensure that students from NPTC Group of Colleges are the most employable in the country; as stylists, colourists or in any hairdressing field of their choice.
But Lee didn’t want to wait until then to get involved, giving an interactive masterclass in the latest cutting techniques to an audience of over 100 local salon owners. He was joined on stage by the College’s specialist hairdressing staff who showcased some of Lee’s signature, Michelin standard recipes: Pony Up, Twisted Tong and Big and Bouncy, with all of them receiving their certificates for achieving their ‘Big 10’s’.
Guests were welcomed with a pink-themed drinks and canapés reception prepared by students from the College’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality department. They were joined by performers the ‘WoW Dolls’, and local radio the Wave and Swansea Sound’s breakfast hosts Claire Scott and Kev Johns.
Before taking to the stage, Lee said: “It feels really good to be launching the first ever Lee Stafford Academy here in Wales. I’m so excited to be in partnership with such an enthusiastic and driven College.
“The event tonight has been amazing, it’s probably the best event that any college has ever put on for a Lee Stafford event so I would like to thank the College very much, and if this is anything to go by, any student who comes here is going to have an amazing, exciting experience.”
He added: “What students can expect from a Lee Stafford Academy are quality recipes that are easy and incredibly effective, that you can go out into the big wide world and get an amazing job with.”
Swansea salon owner, Andrew Price added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for salons in the area, Lee is widely considered within the industry as the Hairdresser’s Hairdresser, and one of the most proactive and dedicated people I know. Training like this on our doorstep can only be viewed as a positive.”
Lee Stafford will be back in the Autumn for further events but if you are a salon looking to work with the College or someone looking to get into hairdressing, please contact us.
