Newtown College, welcomed visitors to its working farm on 9th June as part of Open Farm Sunday 2019 and the weather added to the fun for many of the guests with the geese and children embracing the rain.
This nationally recognised event promoted by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming), provided a fantastic opportunity for everyone, young and old, to find out more about the work and animals on a farm.
This year visitors at Fronlas were entertained by friendly animals, demonstrations and competitions. There were lots to do both indoor and out with mice to handle, geese to feed, sheep shearing and indoor digger simulator. Children and adults alike joined in with building sheds, getting in and out of the tractors that were on show and having a go at decorating cupcakes. Whilst a short down pour saw many visitors run for cover there were also those that enjoyed a splash about in the puddles. Visitors weren’t left hungry either with refreshments including tasty burgers on sale. The event was supported by the NFU, R.A.B.I. and Bees and Trees. or phone: 01686 614200
