The wait is over for students at NPTC Group of Colleges who are celebrating after achieving top results in their A Levels and vocational qualifications.
Many of the class of 2019 have secured places at top universities or got the qualifications to land their dream jobs, including Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics student Connor Doyle who has secured his place at Cambridge University, to study Natural Sciences at Girton College, after achieving A* in all subjects.
Whilst it’s Oxford bound for Si Wai Hui, who achieved an outstanding A* in Biology, A* in Chemistry and A* Mathematics. Si Wai has been accepted to study Medicine at Jesus College; he also won Gold at the 2019 Biology Olympiad – a first for the College. Ewan Partington who also achieved A*s in Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths is heading off to Bath University to study Mathematics.
The incredibly talented Matthew Lawrence, who at just 17 years old, achieved an outstanding four A*s in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. He is now planning to study Mathematics at Imperial College London.
With results like this it’s not hard to see how the College increased its overall A*-A results to an exceptional 20 per cent with students achieving a remarkable 100 per cent pass rate in 26 A Level subjects, 46.3 per cent achieved A* to B grades with 76 per cent gaining A* to C grades. For the students who followed the Gifted and Talented (Gate) programme, it is also good news with 85% achieving A*/A grades and 100% achieved A*-B grades.
In addition, 74 students achieved triple distinctions grades in the Extended National Diploma qualifications, with 30 students achieving the highest possible grade profile of triple distinction stars (D*D*D*) which is the equivalent to three A* at A level.
The excellent results for 2019 top off an incredible year for the College which was named the Top Training Provider in Wales and second in the entire UK for Teaching by the School Leavers Awards.
The brand new Sixth Form Academy Hub at Neath College was also recognised for significantly improving the student experience at the Education Buildings Wales Awards. The hub is now a bustling activity centre for students incorporating a large social space and open learning environment.
