Brecon Beacons College Sports and Public Services lecturer Rhian Davies has been a very busy woman over the summer following her passion for Hockey.
Rhian who plays for Gwernyfed Hockey Club has recently been at the European Championships. She represented Wales International over 35’s, playing England, Germany and Deutsch teams. Unfortunately, they didn’t achieve the results they were hoping for, but the team still keep their heads high and are one of the top teams in Europe to be fully funded.
When asking Rhian on giving advice to those who want to take up the sport, she replied: “I am lucky as a female to enjoy the fitness side of it, getting a little sweaty and scratched. Some young girls may not enjoy this side of it but there is so much more to playing the game, such as being part of a team, meeting new people, building friendships and making contacts through sport to give career advantages. These are just some of the many benefits.”
Rhian looks forward to the Hockey World Cup in 2020 to be held in Nottingham. We wish Rhian and all her team the best of luck for the future.
