There were all smiles for Brecon Beacons College Health and Social Care students Alisha Page, Ffion Moore and Priya Magar, who all achieved a double pass for their Level 2 course.
The students worked hard throughout the course completing exams, assignment and independent case studies. The students were also able to take part in work experience with Alisha and Ffion working at local care homes, and Priya at a day care centre for the elderly.
From gaining this Level 2 qualification, the students were able to enrol onto a Level 3 in childcare. Priya added: “From not doing very well in my GCSE’s in schools, the college was able to give me a second chance in achieving my goal.” She now plans to finish her Level 3 this year which will allow her to head to university to pursue her dream of becoming a paediatric nurse.
The course allows the pupils to build their confidence with Alisha saying: “We are able to learn new skills and use these in our work placements.” The three students are all now working hard to gain their next level which will either see them off into the field of work or a place at university.
Ffion added: “A big thank you must go to course leader Anna Shepherd who gave me the nudge I needed to gain my qualification.”
