As we start returning to the NPTC Group of Colleges, we are asking all staff and students to wear face coverings in communal areas. This is being done following a recent Welsh Government announcement and is a sector-wide approach to ensure the highest levels of health, safety and hygiene are maintained for all.
You will all recognise that we are putting these measures in place to reduce the risk to you and to our staff. Whilst we appreciate the wearing of face coverings does not take away from the key role of social distancing, good hand and respiratory hygiene, we do know it helps stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus by people who may unknowingly have the virus.
When at College, students will be put into contact groups for classroom teaching. At this time students, will not be required to wear face coverings in the classroom. They will, however, be required to follow the social distancing arrangements that have been put in place and that are decided by the type of study programme they are following. These arrangements will be explained fully by the teaching staff during the induction programme.
Outside of the classroom all students and staff will be required to wear face coverings. This is because it is more difficult to adhere to social distancing rules and students may mix outside of their assigned contact groups in communal spaces. So to emphasise – it is for this reason that we are asking students and staff to wear face coverings in order to help protect everyone.
We ask for your understanding during this time and that you follow the guidance that is being given. We recognise there may be individual health needs and this may mean that some staff and students are unable to wear face coverings whilst at college and further guidance will be available on this matter.
If travelling to college on a college bus or public transport, then you will be refused entry to the bus unless you are wearing a face covering. Please ensure you have a face covering with you before you leave home for college.
