Congratulations to all the students from NPTC Group of Colleges who competed in the WorldSkills UK National Finals in Manchester. Eleven students represented the College, across six skills areas – and they returned with medals.
The finalists were amongst the highest performers in the UK in their respective disciplines following a series of regional qualifiers and they represented the best of the best in the UK.
There were 500 participants from across the UK in a range of skills competitions, including Accountancy, Automotive Repair, Horticulture, and laboratory Technician, (from Neath and Pontardawe Colleges respectively) and Confectionary and Patisserie, Culinary Arts and Restaurant Service (from Newtown College).
Several students were formally recognised for their levels of skills and gained the following accolades.
Highly Commended: Culinary Arts, Gabrielle Wilson; Bronze Medal: Foundation Skills, Horticulture, Joshua Miles; Silver Medal: Automotive Refinishing, Victoria Steele; Silver Medal, Accountancy Technician, Toni Borgia, Elena Ciota and Rebecca Smith

The WorldSkills UK competitions are designed by industry experts and enhance the practical skills and knowledge taught on training courses by assessing an individual’s employability attributes against set criteria in a competitive timed environment.
