Livery Award Success for Apprentice

Newtown College Level 3 Carpentry Apprentice Anakin Males has been presented the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales Construction Apprenticeship Award 2024.

Anakin was presented with the award by Professor John Solbe and Doctor Rosie Solbe of the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales. The ceremony held at Newtown College was also attended by Pathways Training Senior Officer, Victoria Lloyd Jones, Anakin’s appointed Apprenticeship Officer Clare Ward and Carpentry Tutor Nigel Ogden, alongside Anakin’s mum Iris Males.

The Worshipful Livery Company of Wales was set up 30 years ago to support talent in Wales, and promotes education, science and technology, with particular promotion of skills and associated professional activities in Wales. Worshipful Livery Awards aim to develop the talents of young people throughout Wales.

Anakin achieved a Distinction in Level 3 Site Carpentry. He worked for Montgomeryshire Homes, Welshpool to complete his apprenticeship and has gone on to work for Carpentry4Homes in West Sussex.

Clare Ward, NPTC Group of Colleges Pathway Assessor said: “Anakin has been an exceptional learner, showing his practical and academic abilities at college and onsite, passing his qualification with a Distinction. He has been chosen for this award because he has always been keen to achieve to the best of his abilities and has been an excellent student, standing out among his contemporaries. Anakin also enjoys work on computers and has developed his own programs. Therefore, proving an all-round worthy award winner.”
