Art and Design students from NPTC Group of Colleges exhibited a collaboration of artwork at the University of Trinity Saint David’s (UWTSD) Creative Bubble recently.
Students currently on the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Afan College worked alongside past students now studying Fine Art at UWTSD.
Rachel Williams and John Antony are currently on the 3rd year of the Fine Art course, and helped to originate and devise the project as part of their 3rd year studies. The project was designed to encourage experimentation with materials and use of space. The final piece was then displayed at the University’s Creative Bubble.
Shaun Morgan, current Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Afan College, really enjoyed the experience and said:
“It was a great experience working with past students as they helped us to think about our creativity and encouraged us to consider our options for the future.”
The Creative Bubble encourages students from different courses to network and work collaboratively, using an empty shop as a base. It provides students with a safe environment to realise their dreams and ambitions by encouraging enterprise and entrepreneurial thinking.
The project ultimately seeks to improve the economic future of Swansea by increasing footfall and supporting students who want to set up their own businesses. It also adds to the rich culture and vibrancy of Swansea. Since 2013, over 11,000 people have set foot in the shop to visit hundreds of pop-up student projects.
Lee Williams, Art & Design lecturer for NPTC Group of Colleges added: “It’s great to see past students passing their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to some of our current students as they begin their creative journey.”
