Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy – VTCT (Part-Time)
Course Overview
The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy is a one-year, part-time course focused towards those seeking to gain employment as a sports massage therapist working with the general public and athletes.
Learners must hold an interest in sport and have preferably achieved a grade C in GCSE English.
Graduates of this qualification will be able to gain employment as a Level 3 Sports massage practitioner, providing pre, post, intra/inter and maintenance massage. This may include working in clinics, for sporting teams or as a mobile therapist. This may be in an employed or self-employed context.
Graduates will be able to progress onto the VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage, which will build upon the skills, knowledge and understanding gained at level 3. It will introduce more advanced sports massage and clinical assessment techniques, preparing potential learners to work with non-acute injury and pre-existing conditions.
It introduces the fundamentals of sport massage, including pre-event, post-event, inter-event and preventative. The course develops a range of sports massage techniques tailored to suit athletes from different sports.
By the end of the course, you will be able to obtain insurance and practice with a sports club or work with private clients.
Assessment methods include a combination of workbooks and practical assessments and an end of unit exam (Anatomy & Physiology).
