The VTCT Level 3 in Applied Therapies is a Full-time Further Education course designed for students interested in beauty therapy and with aspirations to become a beauty therapist.
This is located in the Hairdressing and Applied Therapies (HAT) department.
Students are encouraged to enter Inspiring Skills Wales and World Skills competitions that further challenge and improve specialised skills
Interview prior to enrolment. Students must be aged 18 and over and have achieved the Level 2 qualifications in beauty therapy or complementary therapies.
This qualification will allow learners to continue their studies to Sports Therapy courses or other advanced and specialist alternative therapies.
This course consists of individual unit certificate qualifications, including VRQ Level 3 Certificate in Swedish Massage, VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Pre-blended Aromatherapy, and VRQ Level 3 Certificate in Stone Therapy. The core subject areas are based on the needs of industry.
Additional qualifications in different specialisms will vary depending upon College of study.
Assessment methods include observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning and written end of unit tests. Learners will be required to bring clients to commercial classes for assessments.
Additionally, they will have homework to complete which includes compiling a portfolio of evidence, completing workbooks and practising skills.
Learners will be required to purchase a uniform and kit.
