Level 3 Diploma in Sports Injury Prevention and Management – VTCT (Full-Time)
Course Overview
The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Sports Therapies is a Full-time Further Education course designed for students who are interested a career in sport therapy within the sport, fitness and leisure industry.
Age 16-18: a minimum 5 GSCEs at grades C or above (or equivalent). Mature learners: interview prior to enrolment for mature learners.
This qualification will allow learners to continue their studies to Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy. You can also progress into higher education.
Alternatively, you may wish to seek employment within the sport and active leisure sector as a Sports massage therapist.
The course content includes fitness testing, sports massage, anatomy and physiology, and strapping and taping. You will also learn the basic management of sports injuries. You will also study essential key skills, business skills, customer service and employment practices. You will undertake a period of work experience in the industry.
The course tutors have many years of experience in the field of sports therapy including the London Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Swansea City FC and the Ospreys RFC as well as running a successful specialist sport therapy clinic.
Assessment methods include: observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning, written end of unit tests. Outside of lessons, you will compile a portfolio of evidence and complete workbooks.
You will be expected to practice skills learnt with a local sports club for case study purposes.
