Access to HE Diploma – Humanities and Social Science (Full-Time)
Course Overview
The Access to Higher Education Diploma – Humanities is designed to prepare students to study Humanities and Social Science in Higher Education.
Students can apply for a range of degrees including Law, Teaching, History, English, Criminology, Philosophy and many others.
This is located in the Sixth Form Academy.
It provides the knowledge, understanding and skills required to progress to Higher Education or to enhance employment potential.
This course is a hybrid course with some lectures delivered face to face and some lectures delivered online.
Applications can be made from learners aged 19 or above who do not hold any formal qualifications; Learners will need to provide evidence of literacy skills to enable them to access the essay writing element of the course as well as numeracy skills. This will either be English Language at grade C o above, Maths grade D or above or learners may need to undetake a skills assessment. We will interview each applicant to ensure this is the most suitable course for you. .
Applicants should have a positive disposition and deal well with challenges and be motivated, reliable, and mature.
Successful completion of the course allows entry onto a wide range of degree programmes including Law, History, English, Psychology, Counselling, Criminology, Teacher Training and Social Work.

Full Time and Part Time available - Full Time over 1 year / Part Time over 2 years.
Teaching and learning will take place by a process of lectures, tutorials, seminars, discussions, demonstrations, blended learning and group work. Learners will be assessed by using a range of
assessment strategies including presentations, essays and class tests. Learners will be assessed by a range of assessments methods.
