Course Overview
The Level 2 Agricultural Engineering course is a Full-time course which is delivered over three days a week for two years. This course is suited to those who would like to work in Agricultural Machinery. Individuals who have interest in agricultural machinery maintenance and repair skill sets will enjoy this course.
There are no formal entry qualifications required, however, a Grade C in GCSE English, Maths or a Technology subject would be an advantage as well as some experience of using ICT.
Upon successful completion of the course, the Level 2 Diploma in Land-based Service Engineering 0075 and NPTC Group of Colleges Certificates will be achieved.
Students can progress to a Level 3 Diploma in Agricultural Engineering, Grounds care, or Plant Engineering (0059), or follow routes in agricultural contracting or the agricultural farming industry.
The programme will deliverer a comprehensive range of skill sets through practical tasks, demonstrations, technical master classes, and theory sessions. Assessments will be ongoing throughout the course. Evidence will be generated during college workshop sessions and allocated assignment times. Units include:

• Tools and Equipment
• Fundamental Mechanics
• Bench Fitting
• Welding and Fabrication
• Servicing and Maintenance
• Cooling and Lubrication
• Steering Systems
In addition to the Level 2 Land-based Engineering Diploma you will be helped to develop your Skills in Communication, Application of Number and Digital Literacy. You will also undertake a basic tractor driving course and you will have the opportunity to complete NPTC Certificates of Competence in some of the following:
• ATV
• Telescopic Handler
• Chainsaw
Material required:
You will need both stationary and suitable working clothes to include overalls and steel toecap boots.
Students will be assessed throughout the course by a series of practical and written assessments and assignments.
