This BTEC Level 2 First Certificate in Business is a full-time, one-year course, designed for students who wish to develop a theoretical and practical understanding of various aspects of business.
This qualification is recognised as a foundation to move on to a Level 3 qualification or find employment. It is an excellent opportunity to take the first step into this dynamic subject area and learn about entrepreneurship, marketing, and finance.
Students will have the opportunity to learn about the dynamic world of business and will be encouraged to think like entrepreneurs. They will be exposed to many specialisms whilst they learn, such as Human Resources, Finance, Administration, Management, Law, and Marketing.
To enhance the course even further, students will undertake an event unit; planning, organising, attending, and evaluating their progress. This provides excellent progression onto level 3 or other qualifications.
Finally, students will be given the opportunity to improve their Digital Skills, which is a crucial tool for any young business person in the modern world.
2 GCSE Grades at C or above and/or a suitable Level 1 qualification plus an interview.
This qualification is for learners who want to start a career in business or to progress onto a level 3 provision. Successful progression would enable you to apply for apprenticeships in retail, customer service and enterprise.
Alternatively, you may wish to progress to level 3 Business, or other vocational areas such as Tourism, Media or DT.

Students will prepare a varied amount of course work. Written assessments are completed throughout the course, research is undertaken, and the preparation and presentation of finding will be in written and oral form, as well as offering a number of practical elements that keep the course interesting and engaging. In addition, there is one external assessment to complete.
There will be some visits and trips throughout the course, including as part of the event unit, however the cost of these will be kept to a minimum, particularly any mandatory day trips.
