NPTC Group of Colleges were fortunate to become a partner in the Cynnydd South West Wales regional project part funding through the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government. The project had eleven partners, which were led by Pembrokeshire County Council.
Project delivery terminated on 30th November 2022 with the administration continuing until 28th February 2023.
The aim of the project was to support those most at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training)
The Cynnydd team were able to provide additional specialist support to students. The student-centred well-being and emotional resilience support included personal mentoring, group workshops and signposting to the other specialist services using a variety of interventions specifically targeted to meet the individual needs of each student.
The team worked closely with Neath Port Talbot LEA to support Cynnydd young people who transitioned from school to college.
Whilst in the profiling stages, the college profiled to support 400 students. However, the project delivery team achieved the above target and supported 407 students, with 345 of those students at a reduced risk of becoming NEET when their Cynnydd support ended.
The intervention provided by the well-being team has been integral to the students and has allowed a lot of the students who accessed the service to remain within education. We feel the project has been an astonishing success. The Cynnydd team at NPTC Group of Colleges would like to wish all participants the best of luck with their future endeavours.
