Business studies offer a chance to build knowledge and expertise in many areas and allows you to follow many different career paths. Roles such as administration, accountancy, banking, finance, retail sales, marketing and customer service are just a few of the options that can be explored once you have the skills learnt in this subject area. It will also be useful if you are thinking of setting up your own business or being self-employed in the future.
Economics is a subject that bridges the gap between science and humanities and is highly regarded by Universities. It combines well with other A Level subjects, such as Mathematics, Business, Government and Politics, History and Geography. Students of Economics typically follow career paths in accountancy, finance, government positions and business analysis, both in the private and public sector.
Business and Management
The Business department offers a range of full and part-time courses, from level 1 to level 6.
Each area within the department reflects a dynamic sector, with staff bringing a balance of academic excellence and industry expertise to create a stimulating learning experience.
The BTEC Level 2 qualification offers a foundation to build business knowledge and skills. The course can be completed in one year and allows progression onto level 3.
At Level 3 the BTEC course offers a wide range of topic areas for students to explore, including Finance, Marketing, HR, International Business and Law.
This opens up the opportunity to follow many varied options in terms of career progression and study at HND and BA (Hons) level.
The business department offers students the opportunity to study an HND in Business Studies and BA (Hons) in Business Studies at Neath College or BA (Hons) in Business & IT at Brecon Beacons College.

Travel and Tourism is an industry that is built to last.
Although things might be worrying for travel brands, they won’t stay this way forever. The broad ‘travel and tourism industry’ encompasses many service sectors and, in total, accounts for approximately 10% of the world’s GDP. Countless people, governments, and businesses rely on the industry’s continued existence.

Travel is not only economically significant, but it fulfils a very human urge to get out, connect and explore the world. It’s in everyone’s interest for the industry to bounce back and very exciting to be part of it.

Employment includes working in events, visitor attractions, marketing, human resources, tourism management and development, rural tourism, hotel management, wedding planning, cabin crew, and travel agency.
