Fabrication and Welding
This qualification will support candidates who want to learn fabrication and welding skills in an Engineering environment. You will practice and develop the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the fabrication and welding industry.

Apprentices will work towards the following qualifications:
EAL Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operationsm Units will include: Working Safely in an Engineering Environment, Carrying Out Engineering Activities Efficiently and Effectively, Using and Communicating Technical Information, Cutting & Shaping Materials Using Thermal Cutting Equipment, Preparing and Using Manual Metal Arc Welding Equipment, Preparing and Using Semi-automatic MIG, MAG and Flux Cored arc Welding Equipment.
EAL Level 2 VRQ – Diploma in Engineering Technology
Units will include: Engineering Environment Awareness, Engineering Techniques, Engineering Principles, Fabrication and Welding Principles, Manual Welding Techniques (TIG welding and spot welding) and Thermal Cutting Techniques.

EAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Fabrication and Welding, Units include: Engineering and Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering Organisational efficiency and Improvement, CAD, Fabrication and Welding Principles, Manual Metal Arc Welding. Metal Inert/Active Gas Welding, TIG Welding, Producing Platework Fabrications.
Learners can also select one from the following pathways: Manual Welding, Welding Machine Setting and Operating, Sheet Metal Working, Plateworking, Structural Steelwork and Pipe And Tube Fabrication.

What will the qualification lead to?
After completing each level learners can progress onto a HNC/HND in Engineering.
Mechanical

Land Based Service
This qualification will support roles such as an Agricultural Mechanic, Sports/Ground care Engineer, Plant Engineering or similar role.
This programme provides dedicated workshops and facilities for agricultural engineering, grounds care, and plant work. Paint spraying and Welding and Fabrication are also covered. Welding and Fabrication workshops cover Arc, Mig, Tig Aluminium, and Gas welding (welding repairs, designing and manufacturing).

Level 2 Diploma in Work-based Land-based Engineering Operations (QCF); Units include: Monitor And Maintain Health and Safety Within Land-Based Engineering, Applying Mechanical Principles, Understand How to Use, Service and Maintain Tools and Equipment, Welding, Service and Repair Engine Components and many more.
