Multiply Your Skills
NPTC Group of Colleges has launched a range of free, government-funded courses to help adults and families improve their numeracy and maths skills.
Numeracy and maths skills are essential in all aspects of life. They unlock job opportunities, help you to remain in control of your finances, enable you to help your children with homework or prepare you to step back into education or progress in your career.
The training courses are available to residents of Neath/Port Talbot aged 19 and over who don’t currently hold a Maths GCSE. Our free courses through Multiply will build your confidence with numbers and allow you to gain a recognised qualification.
Numeracy Matters: Suitable for employers who want numeracy training for their employees.
Developing effective Numeracy training for Employees: This project will focus on supporting local employers in developing the numeracy skills of their workforce. We will utilise a variety of delivery methods, including e-learning, face-to-face training, in-person sessions at the workplace, as well as remote and hybrid approaches. The goal is to provide comprehensive training that covers personal financial awareness and increases knowledge of financial concepts. The programme will consist of a mix of accredited and non-accredited courses.
Numeracy at Home: Suitable for children and families who want to improve their basic arithmetic and everyday math skills.
In collaboration with our community, this project aims to develop numeracy opportunities for children and family members. With a specific focus on family learning, we will create courses that enhance basic arithmetic, everyday math skills, and financial literacy. The initiative will align with the new math curriculum and cater to various skill levels, including tasters, beginners, and improvers. We host these courses in accessible venues such as libraries, community centres, sports clubs, schools, and colleges.
Numeracy for Success: Suitable for those wishing to step back into education or upskill.
This project will offer flexible numeracy courses in two strands. Strand 1 will consist of ESW level 2 qualifications, while Strand 2 will focus on delivering agored units at level 2, covering 80% of the GCSE specifications. The topics covered will include statistics and number, algebra, graphs, data handling, and probability.
