Access to HE Diploma – Business & Financial Services (Full-Time)
Course Overview
The Access to Higher Education – Business & Financial services course is a challenging course for those aged 18 or over and aims to prepare learners to study Business or Finance in Higher Education. This is located in the Business Tourism Management (BTM) department.
It provides you with the knowledge, understanding, and skills required to progress to Higher Education or to enhance your employment potential.
Students are encouraged to undertake work placement during their course of study and there might be relevant trips and visits arranged.
Applications can be made from learners who do not hold any formal qualifications; however, a skills’ assessment and an interview will need to be undertaken to determine suitability for the course. Learners with GCSE Maths and English Language at grade C or above do not need to undertake the skills’ assessment but will have an interview.
Applicants should have a positive disposition and deal well with challenges and be motivated, reliable, mature and have evidence of life experience.
Successful completion of the course allows entry into a wide range of degree programmes including Business, Tourism, Finance and Law. Completion of the Access to Higher Education course can also be used as evidence of recent study and to seek new career opportunities. Direct entry to business and tourism HE courses.

A range of interactive and learner led methods are employed to ensure stimulation and development of all learners. Assessment is undertaken using a range of assessment strategies including presentation, reports, essays, events and class tests.
