The AS Level / A Level Dance is a dynamic qualification which encourages students to develop their creative, physical, emotional and intellectual capacity, alongside transferable skills such as team working, communication and problem solving. This is located in the Sixth Form Academy (SFA).
This course is designed for students who are passionate about dancing, and want to be a dancer or work in the creative industry. All of these are sought after skills by higher education and employers and will help them stand out in the workplace whatever their choice of career.

A minimum of six GCSEs at Grade C or above including including English. Prior dance experience desirable.
Movement Therapist, Anthropologist, Dancer, Choreographer, Physiotherapist, Director, Dance Administrator, Teacher, Journalist, Director, Television Producer or Researcher.
The course requires students to develop, demonstrate and articulate practical and theoretical knowledge, understanding and experience of: technical and performance skills, the process and art of choreography, the interrelationship between the creation, presentation and viewing/appreciation of dance works, the development of dance placed within an artistic and cultural context, professional works and the significance of these works, subject specific terminology and its use.
An appealing aspect of the course is that it allows students to study a range of styles and they can perform and choreograph in a style of their choice, providing it meets the criteria.
Students can choose to study A Level Dance and Level 3 BTEC Dance together.
