AS Level/A Level Law is a full-time course located in the Sixth Form Academy. Law is a very popular subject amongst students at NPTC Group, especially for those who wish to read Law at University and become solicitors or barristers.
In your studies, you will learn how laws are created, both by Parliament and judges, and how these are interpreted and developed in actual law cases. You will also learn how the English (and Welsh) legal system works. This will cover the different kinds of courts that handle criminal and civil law cases and appeals; the qualifications and training needed to become a solicitor, barrister or judge; and the important part played in our criminal justice system by laypeople (i.e. people who are not part of the legal profession), either as jurors in Crown Court trials or magistrates (who deal with over 95% of all criminal trials).
The problem-solving scenario-based questions in the substantive areas of criminal law, human rights and tort will help you understand how lawyers think and how the law is actually applied.
If you enjoy lively debate, focused argument and have an enthusiasm for current affairs then you will enjoy and succeed in studying A Level Law.
