Level 1 Construction Skills (Multi Trade – Pre Foundation) (Full-Time)
Course Overview
Construction Skills Level 1 is a Full-time Further Education course designed for students who are interested in a career in the construction industry. The course consists of a Knowledge of Health and Safety, Practical and Theory sessions from some of the following depending on chosen College, Bricklaying, Plastering, Carpentry, Painting, Tiling. Students will have the opportunity to particpate in Skills Competitions, Site Visits and paid Work Experience.
Successful interview with College lecturer and WEST screening results of Entry 3 and higher.
Successful completion of the course can enable students to advance onto a Foundation course with a two trade option or an apprenticeship
Health & Safety and Introduction to the Construction Industry theory sessions. Basic skills knowledge and end tests of the trade areas. Practical sessions in the trades.
Practical sessions take place in fully equipped workshops and assessment is conducted by qualified assessors. Theory sessions provide underpinning knowledge and understanding to support practical sessions.
You will require a range of Personal Protective Equipment and stationery prior to starting on the course including: Safety Boots, Safety Glasses, Dust Mask, Calculator, Scale rule, pens, pencils and paper, A4 lever arch file.
