Course Overview
The Newtown Fashion and Textiles Academy is open and ready to deliver on the ground floor of the Pryce-Jones Building in the heart of Newtown!
Whether you are already adept at creating garments and are looking for a little more training and support, or simply someone who would love to develop their skills in fashion and textiles and just don’t know where to start, our expert lecturers are here to help you reach your goals. The skills learned on this course will be an excellent starting point for those who are hoping to progress on to a higher level of study or planning a career in the fashion and textiles industry. If none of these are the path you are looking for, don’t worry, this course can be taken purely for the fun of learning new skills.
This is a flexible course and has been developed to be delivered on a part time, unit by unit basis with all units being taught over 2 days a week. You can choose to enrol on individual units and gain a L1 Unit Certificate, or you can enrol on a rolling programme of units throughout the year. The more units you complete throughout the year, the more qualified and experienced you become.
All learners will have mandatory training in using domestic and industrial sewing machines before progressing to designing your garment of choice. From here you can take the next step to constructing a pattern for your garment before moving on to the creation of the garment itself.
