Course Overview
The Level 2 Diploma in Agriculture: Engineering Route is a Full-time Further Education course designed for students who are interested in agricultural machinery maintenance and repair.
You normally attend college for three days per week and study all aspects of basic agricultural engineering to include tractor and machinery maintenance and operations. The remaining days will be spent gaining relevant work experience within a suitable workplace such as an agricultural machinery workshop or dealership.
This is located in the Catering, Hospitality and Agriculture (CHA) department.
4 of the appropriate range of GCSEs A*-E and Welsh Baccalaureate Foundation Pass/ Pass*.
Progression will be either to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Agriculture or to the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Agriculture.
Introduction to Farm Animal Production, Introduction to Land-based Machinery Operations, Introduction to Animal and Plant Husbandry, Tractor Driving, Introduction to Land-based Workshop Practice, Introduction to Grass and Forage Crop Production. You will also have the opportunity to take certificates of competence in ATV, Telehandler and Pesticides. You will need appropriate working clothes and footwear to include overalls, waterproofs, steel toecap boots and wellingtons. All working clothes and footwear must be clean as biosecurity is of maximum importance.
Students will be assessed throughout the course by a series of practical and written assessments and assignments.
PPE will need to be purchased when you start the course
