Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy – VTCT NVQ (Full-Time)
Course Overview
The VTCT NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a Full-time Further Education course designed for students who are interested in becoming a Beauty Therapist.
This is located in the Hairdressing and Applied Therapies (HAT) department.
Students are encouraged to enter Inspiring Skills Wales and World Skills competitions that further challenge and improve specialised skills
Interview prior to enrolment. Learners must be aged 16 or over and achieved 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English, Mathematics and Science.
This qualification will enable learners to work as fully insured professionals, either in a salon or as freelance practitioners.
They can continue their studies to Level 3 in Beauty Therapy and photographic, bridal and theatrical techniques of make-up application.
This qualification will provide you with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as a beauty therapist.
Throughout this qualification you will ensure responsibility to reduce risks to health and safety, promote additional services or products to clients, study anatomy and physiology, develop and maintain your effectiveness at work, provide facial skincare treatment, enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes, eyelash and brow tinting, carry out waxing services, provide pedicure, manicure services as well as day, evening and corrective makeup applications.
Assessment methods include observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning and written end of unit tests. Learners will be required to bring clients to commercial classes for assessments.
Additionally, they will have homework to complete which includes compiling a portfolio of evidence, completing workbooks and practising skills.
Learners will be required to purchase a kit and uniform.
