Course Overview
This is a fulltime, one year course that is designed for candidates who want to learn fabrication and welding skills in an Engineering environment.
You will practice and develop the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the fabrication and welding industry.
The course includes units such as: Health and Safety, Working efficiently and effectively in an engineering environment. Engineering drawing, Science and Calculations, MAG welding, TIG welding, MMA welding, Platework Fabrication, Oxy-fuel gas cutting and Plasma cutting.
The course also offers learners the opportunity to participate in the Fabrication and Welding, skills competitions and provides additional practical training in the workshop.
The content and structure of the qualification has been developed to provide learners with a comprehensive skills and knowledge needed to do the job, ability to organise work and identify and prevent problems to the practices and processes of engineering.
The achievement of NVQs will encourage an employee to value their contribution to the workplace, and it will develop their skills and potential. It covers basic knowledge, understanding and skills that are relevant to a wide variety of careers and study routes within the engineering industry and takes a hands on approach to basic engineering training.
