Level 2 Foundation in Construction and the Built Environment (Full-Time)
Course Overview
You will cover practical craft skills, job knowledge and advanced trade techniques in your chosen path. You will also learn the interpretation of construction drawings and the calculation of materials and costings. Students are also encouraged to participate in Skills Competitions as a means of enhancing their practical ability and developing higher level skills.
Learners will need to have achieved, or be working towards their Level 2 Essential Skills English and Maths (or equivalent). GCSE Grade D or above in Maths and English
The qualification provides sufficient knowledge for learners to progress onto the progression qualification or an apprenticeship within the sector in their choice of trade.
Introduction to the Built Environment,Introduction to the Trades in the Construction and Built Environment Sector, Introduction to the Built Environment Life Cycle, Employability in Construction and the Built Environment Sector, Protecting Health, Safety and the Environment when working in the Construction and Built Environment Sector, Introduction to emerging technologies in Construction and the Built Environment Sector, Plus the two trade units that are chosen.
To achieve the qualification, students must pass an online multiple choice test, two practical assessments covering two trades, a guided discussion and a Health and Safety test.
You will require a range of Personal Protective Equipment and stationery prior to starting on the course including: Safety Boots, Safety Glasses, Face Mask, Calculator, Scale rule, pens, pencils and paper, A4 lever arch file.
