This full-time one year course is designed for candidates who want to study Maintenance/Electrical Engineering skills in an Manufacturing environment.
This involves problem solving and general engineering practices.
Students’ will develop the skills required for employment and/or career progression at NVQ level.
There are both practical and theoretical classes in Maintenance techniques including – Welding, Gas Cutting, Hand Fitting and Assembly skills and knowledge, Electrical and Electronics.
There are also elements of Health and Safety, Engineering Drawing, Communicating Engineering information with an additional group tutorial.
4 GCSE's at grade A*-C including Math’s, English or Welsh
Students can continue their studies or enter into employment and continue to study on a day release or full time basis or enter into a sponsored Modern Apprenticeship with a participating employer.
Those who have also successfully completed the Level 2 could also continue onto a Level 3 Engineering programme that we offer e.g.; Engineering Level 3 Advanced Diploma Programmes; Mechanical, Maintenance or Welding.
EAL Performing Engineering Operations Level 2
This course requires continual assessment of practical observations, quality checks of engineered components and college based assignments which will be collated as portfolio evidence to meet the needs of the awarding body.
Short written assignments and online examinations are scheduled at key stages throughout the course.
Workshop PPE such as: Fire retardant overalls, safety boots, glasses etc. Students will need drawing equipment and general staionary.
