Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Care, Play, Learning & Development (Part-Time)
Course Overview
The Level 3 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development; Practice and Theory qualification combines theoretical knowledge in children’s care, play learning and development with the practical skills needed to work within the sector and is delivered part time over two years.
Learners should be at least 19 years of age and although there are no formal qualifications needed the course is directed at people seeking career enhancement in relevant child care settings. The Level 3 Diploma is for people who work alone or under little supervision and may also supervise the work of others. This level is appropriate for playgroup leaders, Childminders, nannies, workers in day nurseries and schools and key workers. Candidates at level 3 may be working full-time (paid or voluntary) but a minimum attendance of 2 days or the equivalent number of hours at a suitable work setting is required.
On completion of this course, learners will be qualified to work as: Teaching assistants, Childminder, Nursery practitioner, Care worker, Preschool worker, Out of school childcare worker, Cylch Meithrin worker. Students can also progress to study Foundation Degrees.
2 years part-time (teaching sessions are held one evening a week 5-8pm)
The Level 3 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development: Practice and Theory qualification is assessed through 70% internal assessment and 30% external assessment. Candidates must successfully complete:
• an externally set, internally marked set of tasks
• a portfolio of evidence
• a discussion with their assessor
• an external examination
• an externally set and marked extended investigation
