Course Overview
This programme will suit individuals who are currently working in the field of Substance Misuse and those who wish to gain experience. This course has been developed to empower individuals to tackle problems caused by substance misuse. This is located in the Health, Social and Childcare (HSC) department.
This course is run in partnership with the University of South Wales.
Entry criteria detail a typical offer but the College considers all applications on an individual basis which means that we could make offers based on qualifications, personal profile and experience. Typical offer: 2 A Levels at C Grade or MM profile from a BTEC Level 3 Diploma and three GCSEs at Grade C or above, to include English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications).
This qualification will enhance career prospects within the health and social care field, particularly working with voluntary agencies dealing with substance misuse and as advice workers in the Health and Social Care and Social Services. Students may progress onto the Diploma in Higher Education in Public Health or onto Year 2 of the Foundation Degree in Care Studies.
The programme will include lectures, seminars and tutorial sessions. You will usually have to complete portfolios, presentations and written assignments as you progress through the programme. Modules include: Legislation and Policies, Using Research in Health and Social Care Practice, Reflective Practice, Interagency Working in Substance Misuse, Current Issues, Addictions.
