Level 6 International Tourism and Events Management BA (Hons) Top-up Degree (Full-Time)
Course Overview
Entry onto top-up courses is through the successful completion of the HND or Foundation Degree (FD) in International Tourism. If you hold an HND or FD in another subject area, entry onto the course is determined by the modules and number of relevant academic credits you have achieved.
This course is run in partnership with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
Entry criteria detail a typical offer but the College considers all applications on an individual basis which means that we could make offers based on qualifications, personal profile and experience. Typical offer: 1 A Level at C Grade or 2 A Levels at E Grade or above or MP/PPP profile from a BTEC Level 3 qualification and five GCSEs at Grade C or above, to include English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications).
You may progress to a variety of postgraduate tourism, business and events-related courses. Graduates have employment prospects in a wide range of tourism, business and events disciplines, for example: conferencing and events management, tourism and planning consultancy, tour operations, the airline industry, marketing, hospitality, retail and human resource management.
The programme will usually include lectures and tutorial sessions. You will usually have to complete portfolios, presentations and coursework as you progress, and one module requires an exam at the end of the academic year.
Year 1 Modules include: Hospitality & Guest Services, Management & Organisational Behaviour, Introduction to Hospitality, Tourism & Events. Applied Personal & Professional Development.
Year 2 Modules include: Practical Event Management, Contemporary Human Resource Management in Context, Work Placement for International Tourism & Event Management, International Tourism Sustainability.
Year 3 Modules include: International Tourism & Destination Management, Developing Niche Markets, Strategic Event Management, Management Consultancy & Organisational Change, Contemporary Themes in Tourism, Events, Hospitality and the Culinary Arts and Enterprise and Entrepreneurship.
You will usually have to complete portfolios, presentations, practical work, exams and coursework throughout the year.
International visits. Travel to and from your work placement.
