Course Overview
This qualification is designed to allow individuals in the construction industry to prove that they have the level and range of knowledge and skills required to carry out the installation of passive fire protection solutions.
Successful delegates will gain the opportunity to progress onto a level 3 NVQ in Occupational Work Supervision. Additionally, successful delegates will gain increased employment prospects in a number of roles including: Fire Stopping Technician, Fire Protection Installer, Site Supervisor, Fire Safety Consultant, Construction Worker specializing in Fire Protection, Building Inspector, Training Instructor.
Mandatory Units:
- Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare
- Moving, Handling and Storing Resources
- Conforming to Productive Working Practices
Optional Units (Minimum of 2 required):
- Installing dry cladding to protect structural steel
- Applying thin film reactive coatings
- Installing fire-resisting ductwork systems
- Installing fire-stopping and penetration seals
- Installing flexible (non-mechanical) cavity barriers
- Erecting fire-resisting walls and wall linings
- Erecting fire-resisting ceiling systems
- Applying non-reactive spray coatings
- Installing fire-resisting timber door assemblies and door-sets
- Observation in the Workplace
- Portfolio of Evidence
