Level 2 Certificate in Nail Treatments – VTCT VRQ (Part-Time: Evening)
Course Overview
The VTCT VRQ Level 2 Certificate in Nail Treatments is a one-year part-time beauty course. It covers manicure and basic nail art, including nail structure and growth, skin and nail diseases and disorders, the anatomy of the hand and arm, and manicure practical procedures, which looks at consultation techniques and homecare advice. In addition, the programme covers artificial nail techniques, including the theory and practice of silk wraps, tip application, blending and acrylics. It also focuses on business, retail and health & safety.
Interview prior to enrolment.
Learners must be aged 18 or over.
This qualification will enable learners to work as fully insured professional nail technicians and allow them to continue their studies to NVQ Level 3 in Nail Techniques and/or other nail art courses.

Assessment methods include observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning and written end of unit tests. Learners will have homework to complete, which includes compiling a portfolio of evidence, completing workbooks and undertaking case studies for manicure, pedicure and artificial nails. In addition, learners will have an assignment to complete where they are asked to research the different types of artificial nails currently used in the professional environment.
