Welcome to the School of Creative, Visual and Performing Arts (CVP)
We offer full-time courses in Art and Design, Creative Media Production & Technology, Production Arts and Performing Arts (specialise in either Dance, Music or Performing Arts). You will be taught in a creative environment using cutting-edge, industry-standard equipment within our purpose-built specialist facilities. These include Nidum Arts Centre at Neath College and Theatr Hafren at Newtown College.
We are a creative centre for learning where you can either follow the A Level route and experience a range of subjects or specialise in a full-time vocational course. The school offers students the opportunity to extend their learning and skills by progressing on to a Higher National Diploma in Music in our NPTC Group of Colleges Music Academy and for those in the visual arts, the Foundation Art and Design programme at Newtown and Afan Colleges. Extensive one-on-one support is provided with applications for conservatories and universities and we ensure our students are ‘audition ready’. Our students do progress and importantly they are really employable – we aim to help them be career ready!
Numerous opportunities are provided for Art and Design, Photography and Creative Media students to exhibit their work both within the college and at external public events. Check out our PROCESS Exhibition below. Our Creative Media students work on ‘live’ projects, during which they liaise with clients and screen their final work. Performance opportunities are vast and form a crucial part of the training for those enrolled in Performing Arts, Dance and Music.
The school of CVP also offers extensive extra-curricular programmes including the College Choir, Funk Band, LIFT Dance Company, Camera Club and weekly Life Drawing classes. Our team of specialist lecturers are really looking forward to welcoming you to the School of CVP.
