Health, Social, and Childcare
Health, Social, and Childcare workers are increasingly in demand to cater to the UK’s population and as a result, a growing number of job opportunities are becoming available in this sector.
Staff in the School of Health, Social and Childcare are industry experts as well as lecturers. Our aim is to support and care for students to ensure that they succeed in their chosen field.
In addition, all students are expected to complete a related work-based placement, with a focus on employability skills and improved numeracy and literacy.
The School offers commercial health, social and childcare training to local authorities. All students undertake charity and fundraising work throughout the year for local and national charities.
Students are also encouraged to complete a Welsh Language-communication course and enhance their interpersonal skills through group activities and fundraising events.
What is more, we provide courses from Level 2 through to BSc Honours Degree.
Furthermore, students can progress through the School from Further Education to Higher Education programmes and into employment.
Dynamo role models (experts from the industry) come into the school to give talks to the students.
In particular, the Head of School chairs the Colegau Cymru HSC Network and sits in on working groups in the local area in partnership with the local authority and related organisations.
In summary, courses can lead to a career as a teacher, teaching assistant, childcare practitioner, speech and language therapist, nurse, paramedic, or a social worker.
Alternatively, we offer full-time, part-time, daytime, evening and short courses.
